What we do:
Youth Engagement is a non-profit organisation which aims to engage and help students in St. Gallen.
We want to help students utilise the skills and knowledge they are gaining from their studies for a good cause. We are working collectively on one project which focuses on current social challenges. Thanks to their Engagement the students themselves profit as well as the society. Initially we are working on the integration of refugees locally, however wish to expand this in the future.
How our Students can Profit:
The students who are working on this project have an opportunity to further their education in a practical way whilst doing good for the community. Ideally we want to pay our students a little salary. This way they also have an opportunity to earn money which in turn can finance some of the expenses associated with their scholastics.
The three main areas in which they can profit are listed as follows:
- They get to actively build their future and the world around them. Or in other words, they can engage for a good cause.
- They can use their theoretical skills in a functional way. This way they can sharpen their skills and get introduced to the daily life of their future jobs.
- In the best case, they get a chance to earn money while being part of our projects and doing their best to change their environment for a better future.
How Refugees can profit:
To help refugees, we thought it best working together with other organisations, instead of starting a rivalary. In this sense of view we see ourself as a kind of b2b solutions. We get in touch with the organisations working with refugees. Because we are working with students from all three colleges in St. Gallen, we can offer flexibel and specific solutions to these organisations. Together we search for ways to expand or deepen the work and integration of refugees. Because our students are so flexible, we can work out perfectly matching solutions. We can work in scouting and advancing individual talents or tighten the workload of Organisations so they can focus on their main field. In either way we generate a win-win situation for any side.
